Waiting out the rain
When you'd started out on your walk of the countryside, it had been clear blue skies. You hadn't noticed the dark clouds banking up behind you. The first you knew of it was a distant roll of thunder. You turned your head in the direction of the noise and saw the wall of dark clouds. You spotted a barn in the distance and made a dash for it.
Once inside, after a moment or two, you heard the gentle fall of rain on the roof. You might be waiting a while. You took out your trusty book and settled on a hay bale. A slight rustle from the corner startled you but a plump tabby cat appeared. It nestled down beside you, providing warmth and companionship. Perhaps this was an even better way of spending the afternoon than a walk in the countryside.
