Autumn Forest Porch
It is nearing the end of October. You drove out to this lonely cabin way out in the forest by yourself to finish writing the last few chapters of your book. Everything about this would make others turn back; no cell phone service, no internet, not even a paved road within 10 miles. The cabin is in disrepair and dark. But to you, this is paradise.
You unpack and start a fire in the wood-burning stove by the window. You make yourself a fresh cup of steaming coffee. You pull on a thick sweater and sit down on the cabin's porch. The sky is steely gray and a crisp breeze threatens to pull the last blazing red and brilliant orange leaves from the trees. You sip your coffee. You pull a blanket over your lap. You feed the paper into your typewriter and let the autumn whisk you away. As the light fades, you think you hear something...footsteps? Howls? No, of course not, they're just in your mind from writing your story.
