Appalacian Autumn
An Appalacian autumn, maybe. The farmhouse kitchen has its windows wide open to the fall air outside. Mother is making luncheon, and talking with the cousins come to drop off firewood and enjoy her delicious cooking. The hens happily brood over their keep in the henhouse, and the baas of the sheep in the next field over waft to the house on the light wind. A little person is curled up on the armchair quietly enjoying a view of the kitchen and the family chatting there, the cozy scent of maple sausages and baked apples, a newly discovered Wind in the Willows, and a dog napping under the chair.
